The 458 speciale looks very nice - the side profile is jawdroppingly pretty.

Kinja'd!!!

However, the Speciale suffers from the same headlight affliction as the Italia. In my opinion, like many other manufacturers, Ferrari has taken the LED headlight nonsense to an extreme - in the 458's case, running the headlights up the fender. I don't think it looks angry or cool, as I've heard some people posit, just dopey - like Amy Winehouse's mascara.

My sense is that I must prefer rounder (or perhaps the description should be more compact) headlight assemblies, as shopping out the fender LEDs would generate a trapezoidal shape.

My request is: Can anyone here 'shop the LED portion of the lights running up the fender out of this pic so I can see if this would "solve" my "problem"* with the 458?

*I fully recognize that the vast majority of folks seem to prefer the factory treatment, and thus, while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I appear to be wrong ;)

I was a professional photgraphyer for a magazine on the internet and we used to just use our thumbs to cover things we didnt want to see. Try that and let me know how it works

Works great, but now I need to photoshop my thumb out of the picture. Although, maybe I could re-draw the wing mirror and rest of the fender onto my thumb...

Here you go. 2 options. First is with the LEDs off, 2nd is an adjustment to the headlight shape without the LEDs because why would the headlight enclosure be that long if there weren't LEDs?

That's great - thanks! I wish I wasn't so inept with art.

The bottom version is what I was trying to describe - it's actually the enclosure that is bugging me; I'm okay with some LEDs. They just don't need to go halfway to the cockpit.

Looking at it, I would even go a little smaller and chop off the part that extends outwards from the bonnet-fender panel gap. Basically, I'm thinking we eliminate everything except the round headlight in a trapezoidal housing.

Thanks for humoring me!

I actually tried that first...it looked really weird.

The headlight got waaaaay to small for the front of the car. So I left on part of the angle up after posting I thought to myself, maybe I should have cut the outside top corners of the light, but felt it would be too big of a departure.

Funny part is I'm not even a fan of Ferraris.

Oh well, I just made their blacklist for editing one haha!

Interesting, hadn't considered that - blasted proportions ruining my plans.

I'm not a huge fan either, but that's more because I find Enzo to be a distasteful creature (as I suppose many highly successful people can be), rather than any specific dislike of the cars themselves.

That said, if you made the list, I'm guessing I'm right there with you!

hahaha, I'm mainly joking how anyone who modifies a Ferrari without express permission and doesn't get the badge removed ends up being attacked/sued/beaten up in a back alley by goons at the leather driving gloved hands of Ferrari HQ. LOL
